 Rachel Anne McAdams was born on 17 November 1977. She is a Canadian actress. She graduated from York University's theatre program in the year 2001. She was a part of Canadian productions for film and television including Perfect Pie (2002) for which she was nominated for a Genie Award, My Name Is Tanino (2003-2005) and Slings and Arrows (2003) which earned her an award called a Gemini Award. In 2002, she made her Hollywood film debut in The Hot Chick. She rose to fame in 2004 for her role in the comedic Mean Girls and the romantic drama The Notebook. She starred in the romantic comedy Wedding Crashers and the psychological thriller Red Eye. In 2005 she was also featured in The Family Stone, a comedy-drama. She was hailed by Hollywood's media as the latest "it girl" and was awarded an BAFTA Award nomination for Best Rising Star.After an absence of a few days in 2009, she re-emerged in 2009 when she appeared in the thriller about politics State of Play, the romantic comedy The Time Traveler's Wife, and the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes.
