Melanie Jayne Lynskey, born 16 May 1977 is a New Zealand actress. Her work is known for its portrayals of complex women as well as her command of American dialects, she is predominantly in independent films. Lynskey has received two Critics' Choice Awards. She also received the Gracie Award. A New Zealand Film Award. The Hollywood Film Award. After her move to the United States, Lynskey built a successful career as a supporting actor in a number of small- and large-budget features such as Ever After (1998) and Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama, (both 2002), Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006).
