 Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, born on the 25th of October 1984 was an American singer-songwriter and television personality. The singer has been recognized by her impact on contemporary pop music, as well as her quirky style, with Vogue referring to her as the "Queen of Camp. Perry was just 16 when she started a career as a gospel singer, made her first album Katy Hudson under Red Hill Records in 2001. It was not a success commercially. She relocated to Los Angeles at 17 to venture into secular music, and then changed her stage name to "Katy Perry" from her mother's maiden name. She released an album called Fingerprints while signed to Columbia Records, but was dropped before signing to Capitol Records.She gained notoriety with One of the Boys (2008) the pop rock album that featured the debut track "I kissed a Girl" and follow-up single "Hot and Cold" which climbed to number one and three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 respectively. Teenage Dream (2010), a disco-influenced pop album, resulted in five U.S. number-one singles: "California Gurls", Teenage Dream", Firework", and "E.T. " and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F. )"--becoming a first and sole solo album by an female.
