Sara Lynn Evans (/'se@r@born 5 February 1971) is an American country music performer and songwriter. She is also an actor, record producer, and an author. She has had five songs hit the top place on the Billboard chart of country music and has sold more than six million albums. Nine additional singles have reached the top ten of the Billboard chart, including "I Could Not Ask for More", "I Keep Looking" and "Cheatin'". "Saints & Angels", Backseat of a Greyhound Bus" as and "As If" are among the top 20 charting singles. She has won accolades from both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. The Academy of Country Music as well as the Country Music Association have nominated her for numerous other accolades including Female Vocalist, and Single of The Year. Evans was born in New Franklin, Missouri, and began performing with her siblings in The Evans Family Band. The group performed through her early childhood and teenage years in her local area. As she grew older, Evans and her older brother Matt created their own band before moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 1991 to pursue a career in country music.
