She was represented by Irene Marie Models and Trump Model Management. She married Donald Trump in 2005 and they had their son Barron. Later that year, she was an American naturalized citizen. After Louisa Adams, she is the second American woman to be naturalized. She was also the first first lady to be born in English. Knavs was raised in a small home in Sevnica in the Lower Sava Valley. Her father was a part of the League of Communists of Slovenia. This group was a proponent of a state policy of atheism.
