 Jose Romulo Sosa Ortiz (17 February 1948 - 28 September 2019), known professionally as Jose Jose, was a Mexican singer and actor. Born into a family of musicians, Jose began his musical career in his teens performing on guitar as well as singing in a serenade. Jose Jose joined a jazz and bossa Nova trio in which he played bass and doublebass. In the late 1970s, the singer became a solo artist. Showing off his tenor vocal talent by performing a breathtaking rendition of the hit song "El Triste" at the Latin music festival held in Mexico City in 1970, Jose climbed the Latin charts throughout the decade. While he was an acrobatics performer, his vocals received universal praise from music lovers and the media.In the 1980s, following his signing with Ariola Records, Jose rose to international prominence as one of the world's most renowned and gifted Latin artists. His 1983 album Secretos was sold in excess of twenty million units.
