Julia O'Hara Stiles, born March 28, 1981, is an American actress. Stiles was born and raised in New York City. She started acting at 11 years old, as part of New York's La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. After playing a small role in I Love You, I Do Not Love You (1996) the actress was chosen to play in Wicked (1998) in which she received the Karlovy Vary Film Festival Award as Best Actress. She rose to prominence with the lead roles in teen movies such as 10 Things I hate about You (1999), Down to You (2000), and Save the Last Dance (2001). She has won numerous awards including the NBR Award. A CFCA Award. A Gold Derby Award. Two MTV Movie Awards. Satellite Award. Gotham Award. Golden Globe Award. Emmy Award nominations. In 2002, she played Nicky Parsons in Bourne. Other notable movies include Hamlet (both 2000), O(2001), A Guy Thing ((2002), Carolina (2003).
