Rebel Melanie Elizabeth Wilson, born Melanie Elizabeth Bownds on 2 March 1980 is an Australian comedian, writer, singer and producer. Wilson was a graduate of the Australian Theatre for Young People (2003-2007, 2019). Then she played the role of Toula in the SBS comedy series Pizza (2003–2007, 2019, 2020) and then as a character in The Wedge (2006–2007). She was the producer, star and created the musical comedy show Bogan Pride (2008). Following her move to the United States, Wilson appeared in the comedy films Bridesmaids and A Few Best Men, both in 2011.In 2012, Wilson appeared in the comedy films What to Expect when You're Expecting and Struck by Lightning, and Bachelorette and led to Variety naming her among their "Top Ten Comics to Watch for 2013". She played Fat Amy, the character of Pitch Perfect's musical comedy series from 2012 until the year 2017. The show earned her numerous award nominations and wins including the MTV Movie Award (Best Breakthrough Performance) and the Teen Choice Award (Best Movie Actress). In 2016, she was a part-time actress in the films How to Be Single and Grimsby.
