Victor

 Victor-Marie Hugo (French pronunciation: [viktoR MaRi ygo] 26 February 1802 - 22 May 1885) is a French Romantic writer as well as politician and politician. In a career in literature which spanned over sixty years, he wrote in a variety of types and genres. He is regarded as one of the best French authors of all time.His most well-known works include his novels The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) and Les Miserables (1862). Hugo is well-known in France for his poetic collection which include Les Contemplations (The Contemplations), and La Legende des siecles ("The Legend of the Ages") Hugo, through his plays Cromwell and Hernani, was at the forefront of the Romantic literary movement. Many of his work has inspired music, in his lifetime and after his death. These include the opera Rigoletto as well as musicals Les Miserables and Notre-Dame de Paris. Hugo produced over four thousand drawings during his life and was a vocal advocate for social causes, such as the abolishment of capital punishment.Though Hugo was a fervent royalist at a young age, his views changed as the decades came and he became an avid supporter of republicanism, serving in politics as deputy and senator.
