 Chancelor Johnathan Bennett (born April 16, 1993) is known as Chance the Rapper, is an American artist, rapper and producer of records. Bennett was born and raised in Chicago. He released his first mixtape, 10 Day in the year 2012. The artist began to garner the attention of the public in 2013 after release of his second mixtape, Acid Rap. After that, he released his third mixtape, Coloring Book in 2016, which garnered further critical acclaim and attention. The album won three Grammy Awards for it, including Best Rap Album. It was also the first streaming-only album to ever be awarded the Grammy Award and reached number eight on Billboard 200. In 2019, his debut studio album, The Big Day, was released. He is also a vocalist and member of Savemoney in Chicago. They released Surf in 2015, which was lead by Nico Segal, who is also a trumpeter. He is active in social activism in Chicago the city where he resides. His father, Ken Williams Bennett, was an aide to the late Chicago mayor Harold Washington.
