While the Bible is the originator of the expression "money is the root for everything evil" However, churches remain a reliable way to make profits. This is especially true for "megachurches" like the Southern Baptist Elevation Church based in Charlotte, North Carolina, that is estimated to bring in fifty thousand dollars every weekend through donations from its members on their own, however, unlike many churches where those attendees help make operational and financial decisions the worshippers of Elevation Church have had no input the decision-making process, and don't know the amount that the pastor Steven Furtick makes in a particular year.Furtick's personal finances have been the subject of some controversy lately, as the head pastor gave his first public interview in 7 years to a Charlotte TV station. Furtick was steadfast in his decision to not reveal the details of his personal finances, like his income to the church. Furtick claimed that he believes he must "have the integrity" in his private life as a public servant of God and it's not necessary to divulge specific information.
