Spencer Michael Rattler (born September 28 in 2000) is an American football quarterback who plays college football for South Carolina. Rattler started his college career at Oklahoma before moving to South Carolina in 2021.Going into his redshirt freshman season, Rattler competed with Tanner Mordecai for the starting job. On September 1, Lincoln Riley announced that Rattler had won the starting quarterback job over Mordecai, and Rattler made his debut on September 12 in the game against Missouri State. Rattler broke the Oklahoma record of eight touchdown passes in just two weeks on the 26th of September. This was set by Sam Bradford back in 2008. Rattler's first game was not easy. His Sooners lost to Kansas State in Rattler's second attempt. Rattler was capable of throwing 300 yards and two touchdowns during his third game at Iowa State. This defeat ended a streak of 24 straight home losses for Iowa State to Oklahoma. Rattler as well as the Sooners were able to make an impressive comeback in beating Texas in the Red River Rivalry match. He had seen action in the second quarter of the Semi-Final of the College Football Playoff against LSU. He appeared in three games throughout the 2019 season.
