 Kendrick Lamar duckworth born on 17 June 1987 is an American musician and rapper. Known for his progressive music styles and socially conscious songwriting, he is often regarded as one of the most influential hip hop artists in his generation.Born and raised in Compton, California, Lamar started his career as a teenager as a stage performer under the name K.Dot. He quickly garnered local attention and eventually signed the recording contract with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2005.After becoming an original part of the hip-hop supergroup Black Hippy, Lamar dropped his stage name and started using his middle and initial names as professional. In 2011, Lamar released his debut studio album Section.80, a conscious hip-hop album. The album was met with praise and also included the debut single "HiiiiPower". Lamar signed a record deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment in 2012 and released his second studio album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The album, heavily influenced by West Coast and Gangsta Rap was a huge commercial and critical success. The album also included two singles "Swimming Pools(Drank)" and "Swimming Pools ("Drank")".
