 Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2 1972), also known by his nickname, the ring The Rock, is an American actor and former professional wrestler. He is widely considered to be one of the most outstanding professional wrestlers ever and was instrumental in the growth and success of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) during the Attitude Era, an industry boom period during the latter part of the 1990s and early 2000s. Johnson worked for the WWF for eighteen years before making the decision to pursue an acting career. His films have earned him more than $3.5 billion in North America and over $10.5 billion worldwide and make him one of the highest-grossing and most lucrative actors.Prior to his emergence as a top-grossing actor in the decade of 2010, Johnson was an athlete. In his time at Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley, he ultimately became a star player on the school's football and wrestling teams. They played in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, a conference known for producing elite professional and Olympic athletes. He is grateful to his coach at the high school level for helping to inspire transformative modifications in his life.
