American businessman, philanthropist, and space explorator Jeff Bezos is perhaps best known for his creation of Amazon.com. He was the most wealthy person on earth without interruption from October 2017 until January 2021.According to the company's most recent SEC filing, Jeff owns 55 million shares of Amazon approximately 12 percent of the total shares outstanding. At his peak he owned 80 million shares of Amazon. Jeff donated 19.7 million shares of Amazon to his wife as part April 2019 divorce settlement between him and MacKenzie Bezos. The value of the shares as of the transfer was $36 billion. Jeff's net worth temporarily fell from $150 billion down to $114 billion following the settlement. Jeff was also a pre-IPO shareholder in Google.com. He holds up to $1 billion in shares in Alphabet Inc. Amazon shares began to sky rise in late 2014.
