Day was formerly World Number 1 in the World Golf Ranking. He was born to Alvin Day and Dening Day in Beaudesert on November 12, 1987. He has two sisters, Yanna and Kim. Following the death of his father Jason enrolled in Hills International College's golf school. Jason Day was awestruck by Tiger Woods and used his scores to improve his game. Jason was 13 when winning the 2000 Australian Masters junior tournament on the Gold Coast. In his amateur years, he won the Australian Junior Order or Merit twice. Day was seventh in the Queensland Open and was the top amateur.
