The MLB off-season is full of big money deals, with some teams committing hundreds of millions of dollars with the hopes of finding the right mix to create a playoff-caliber team. With spring training just two weeks ahead, some teams have been working on mega deals to lock up the best players in baseball for many years to come.Detroit has been consistently in the playoffs with four consecutive division titles from 2011-14 . The team then finished with a sub-.500 record for the first time since the year 2008 (74-87). The front office splurged over $100 million for an addition to the pitching staff (Jordan Zimmerman), but that wasn't enough. They also needed to add offense so they committed $132.75million for a new six year deal to Justin Upton. His performance last year was not good due to San Diego's pitcher-friendly stadium. But they didn't suffer much from the previous season at Atlanta (.270 BA and 29 home runs, the 102 RBIs set a record, which is a career record). He's likely to put up similar, if not even better, numbers in the Tigers park.
