Danica

Danica Sue Patrick (/'daenIk@/; born March 25 1982) is an American former professional race driver. Danica Sue Patrick is among the top-performing American woman open-wheel racing driver. Her win at the Indy Japan 300 in 2008 is her sole IndyCar Series win. Born into a working class family from Beloit, Wisconsin, Patrick started karting at the age of ten and was able to achieve early success by winning her class in the World Karting Association Grand National Championship three times in the early 1990s. She quit high school with parents' consent in 1998, and moved to the United Kingdom to further her career. Patrick was a competitor in Formula Vauxhall before moving to the United States in 2001 because of a lack in funding. She raced in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races in 2002 for Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick participated in the Toyota Atlantic Series the following two years. Her best performance was third place in the championship standings of the 2004 season when she became the first female to earn an overall position in the race.
